Our Story, SP & KCM

I guess you could say I have known Krista Chapman Mcferren for what seems a lifetime! In reality, it's been at least 30 years. Our paths first crossed in the halls of Castle Jr. High in Paradise/Newburgh Indiana. The year would have been 1976. We didn't really know each other as "friends" then, just someone we "knew". That's the way it was til High School.

With the move to Castle High School, Things would change. I became more aquainted with her through a friend she was dating at the time. Evan after that school romance ended and others came and went, we stayed friends. I swear we had lunch together surrounded by others almost everyday. Especially true our Senior year. But thats all it ever amounted to......good friends. Krista likes to call "the time" when I was her "girl friend" (I can't believe I actually included that) Well I guess in a way that could be sum it up.

We both had different circles of friends we ran with after school hours and different activities within Castle High. Most notably she was a Cheerleader, and I ran Cross Country. (how come there are no cheerleaders at a Cross Country Meet) Anyway, thats the way it was.

I can remember one of the last times I saw her. Krista invited me over to her house as she was sorting through things to take to college. She was accepted to Florida State. I would be going to the University of Evansville. After She left I recieved a few letters from her, and in turn I updated her with what was happening "back home" I still to this day have some of hers! But as often the case with the passing of time, we tend to loose touch. Same Here!

The next time I would see her, would be at our 5 year class reunion. evan tho' the event spanned a couple of days. we didn't really get much more than a chance to ask how each were doing.

Then the 10 year reunion came...She just had her first of three children. I had just recently married my "future ex-wife". Alittle more chit chat.....then we parted ways again.

the 15 year class reunion?

The 20 year, I didn't go to. Krista did. (she would ask me about it later. I just wasn't really motivated at that point in time to attend.

Krista was one of those people I always wondered "what she was up to.....what was happening in her life etc, etc, etc. But I never did anything to get in touch with her. Knew she was in Florida for some time, heard she lived in Texas as well. That was pretty much all I knew....Heard a rumor she evan had lived in Missouri at some point.

Late in 2003, I was checking my email at work, when there in the sender column I see her name.....I couldn't believe my eyes. the email stated she was looking for a Scott Powell who went to Castle High School. Wondered if I could be him. Well I sent her a goofy reply stating I indeed was THAT Scott Powell. After another email to prove "my being" Two friends were reunited.........But who would have ever thought what it would lead too.

The emails to come were finding out about each others families, catching up on others from school etc, etc, etc....
Then one day she asked where I lived. My respnose.... the small rural community of Carrollton, Missouri. Her response was do you know where Blue Springs Missouri is? I couldn't believe it! She was just over an hour away.
